My hotel was in Brampton - an area of Toronto which barely merits a mention in
tourist guides. But what it lacks in a lack of things to do, it makes up for by
being completely flat and devoid of tourists. To be fair, it did have a
local parkrun (local = a 2 mile walk + a bus ride), at the end
of which I nearly collapsed from heat exhaustion.*
I decided to spend the rest of the day in "Tronno". I should have heeded the
buses being too full to let me on as a warning. When I finally got into the toon
(via Uber), Tronno was heaving with the annual Pride event and Toronto Jazz
Festival (neither of which I managed to get a picture of), as well as several
major sporting events and gigs. I did manage to get to the Royal Ontario Museum
an hour before chucking-out time, where I enjoyed both the Covid exhibition

After visiting the world's most unIrish Irish bar in search
of sustenance, I was overjoyed to find that they'd cancelled all the buses
home from the centre of Toronto. And after about 30km of walking, I got back to base
camp around 11pm. There is nothing sadder than seeing your hotel fade into the
distance when you're zooming past it on the motorway. Anyway, next stop - Niagara-on-the-Lake!
* It wasn't actually that hot. Maybe 25°c. Can't wait to visit the equator.
Too soon? |
