Part 14 - Vancouver Island

I only had one full day to spend on Vancouver Island, so I thought what better way to spend it than getting a rickety old bus from one small town (Port Hardy) to another (Port McNeill) to find a doctor and be diagnosed with shingles.

I'm quite glad I did, (travel on the bus - not get shingles) because Port McNeill was probably a wee bit nicer, and after I picked up my drugs, I spent the afternoon chatting to various travellers.

Thankfully, we didn't have to use the tsunami evacuation route

Mind you, just to stoke the fierce rivalry further, Port Hardy did have one over its neighbouring town by virtue of having a statue of a carrot.

The next morning, I hopped into a taxi to go to possibly the smallest airport I've ever visited. Sadly, the plane was delayed by 8 hours due to fog (and then after the fog cleared, "operational reasons") and the novelty of being in a tiny airport soon wore off. Eventually, we took off for the final leg of this trip, Vancouver!
Not the largest plane I've ever been on
